Over 40 athletes who will vie for spots on the USA National Team to represent us in the 2012 Thomas and Uber Cups and Pan American Championship competitions.  These athletes are the top US  competitors, some former Olympians as well as hopefuls for next summer's London Olympic Games playing right here on our very own Boston Badminton courts!

The schedule of matches is Friday, Dec 2, 12:30 - 8 pm; Saturday, Dec 3, 9 am - 8 pm; Sunday, Dec 4, 9 am - 4 pm.  Admission is free.  Players will compete in Men's and Women's Singles and Doubles as well as Mixed Doubles events.

This event will be very exciting to watch, not just for the action during play, but also for the professional way in which it will be managed.  Each match will have an umpire and service judge and we would very much like to be able to provide line judges as well.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

In order to make this the top quality event we want to present, we need your help!  Below are a variety of ways in which you could make a difference.  There are sign up sheets for each of these at the front desk on which you can choose your preferred day and time to help.

Line Judges

In order to make this the top quality event it deserves to be, we need volunteers.  Our biggest need is for line judges throughout the 3 days.  We will break up the time into 3 -4 hour shifts during which we must have about 10 people available at all times to make line calls.  Beth Sopka, one of our top national officials, will conduct half-hour clinics to train those who volunteer in the proper procedures and techniques for line judges on Monday, Nov 28, Wednesday, Nov 30 at 7 pm and Saturday and Sunday, Nov 26 and 27 at 1 pm.  One need attend only one of these clinics to be properly prepared.

Sign up with your friends to work as a group for more fun.  This is a great way to get the best seats in the house, up close and personal, for the matches at the same time as helping make the event a terrific success!

Transportation

The official hotel is the Doubletree on Computer Drive less than 2 miles from the club.  While the hotel does have a shuttle van it is not exclusively reserved for our tournament and we will have shifts throughout the tournament for which we will need someone available willing to ferry small groups of players to/from the hotel.  We will pay for gas and, if you are unwilling to use your own vehicle, we will provide one.  You'll have a prime opportunity to get to know some of the players personally as you drive!

General Help

We would also like to have a small pool of people who would be available to do 'whatever' on the spot throughout the tournament.
